TOGO: La demande en ciment explose

Le Togo est confronté à une pénurie chronique de ciment. Une situation qui touche surtout les particuliers souvent dans l’impossibilité d’achever la construction ou la rénovation de leurs maisons.

Pointée du doigt, la société CIMTOGO a tenu à s’expliquer samedi sur les raisons du déséquilibre entre l’offre et la demande.

Pour Jean Adoléhoumé, le directeur Administratif de cimentier, la conjonction de trois facteurs entraîne la pénurie depuis décembre dernier. Il y a d’abord la saison sèche, période traditionnelle de construction au cours de laquelle la demande est soutenue. Ensuite, les transporteurs délaissent l’acheminement du ciment en période de récolte pour privilégier le coton et les intrants plus rémunérateur ; enfin, il y a eu des mouvements sociaux à Wacem et une panne du broyeur chez Fortia.

Le marché est tendu globalement en raison des besoins importants pour la rénovation du réseau routier qui pèsent sur la production.

Mais Jean Adoléhoumé dément les affirmations selon lesquelles une grosse partie du ciment produit au Togo serait exportée. A peine 20000 tonnes de cimentsle de la société.de 2000 tonnes vers le Nord du Togo. du ciment produit au Togo serait exporté. les transpo% sont destinés aux pays de la région.

CIMTOGO a apporté un début de solution à la pénurie en acheminant ces derniers jours près de 2000 tonnes vers le Nord du Togo.

‘Nous avons mobilisé 50 camions pour inonder le Nord afin de garantir la disponibilité du ciment. Nous privilégions le marché intérieur’ indique le responsable de la société.

CIMTOGO produit 16.000 tonnes de ciment par semaine.

Togo: Mines fixe en octobre le premier clinker du projet de Sika-Kondji

ScanTogo Mines, filiale du groupe allemand Heidelberg Cement, commencera en octobre prochain la production du clinker dans son projet de calcaire de Sika-Kondji, préfecture de Yoto dans le sud du Togo.

André Rygh, directeur général de ScanTogo Mines, a estimé à 95%, le 18 avril dernier, le niveau d’évolution globale des travaux démarrés en 2012, fixant en octobre prochain « la première production de clinker ».

La compagnie ScanTogo Mines a obtenu, dans le cadre de ce projet, une licence d’exploitation à grande échelle du calcaire, dont le gisement de Sika-Kondji qui est estimé à 75 millions de tonnes.

La maison-mère Heidelberg Cement, déjà présente au Togo via la compagnie Ciment du Togo (Cimtogo), a financé entièrement à hauteur de 254 millions $ la construction de cette usine devant produire 5000 tonnes de clinker par jour sur plus de 50 années.

TOGO: Seeker Tec International, Inc. Announces Togo Transport Acquisition

Seeker Tec International Inc. (OTC Markets: SNTL) has acquired a controlling interest in Norwegian holding company JAMAC 333 AS, which in turn owns majority interest in Togo Transport Company of West Africa.

Togo Transport has recently been awarded a contract with the West African Cement Company to transport raw materials from the capital Lom, to the WACEM plants in Burkina Faso.

JAMAC has already procured its first truck which will deliver an estimated $200,000 of revenue in its first year and expects to have up to 9 trucks in operation by the end of 2014.

Seeker Chairman Mike Kendrick commented, "The Togo project fits perfectly into our philosophy of compassionate capitalism. By working with a local partner, we will boost the economic benefit of the business in Togo, whilst generating returns for our stakeholders.

Togo is a small country of 6.5 million people, but it is growing fast, due to the strategic importance of its deep water harbour in the middle of the west coast of Africa and support from the World Bank. Seeker has a real opportunity to be a key player in the country's development.
