UKRAINIA: Lafarge has frozen the Ukrainian project


The French group Lafarge in connection with the global economic crisis has stopped the development project to build a cement plant in the Lviv region, capacity 2.5 million tons per year, which was supposed to be the second cement enterprises of Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine.

"This initial project, announced the company in 2007 and terminated in connection with the global crisis", - noted in the message owned by French group of "Nikolaevtsement" (Lviv region)..

Nevertheless, the stresses in it, work on the project of the future of the plant continues to resume the implementation of the plans in the future.

"Of course, the project team continues to work on a draft of a new line to prepare adequately for the time when the economy grows and the group decides to invest," - the report says.

As reported previously planned to build a Lafarge cement plant in an area of about 100 ha in the 12-13 km from the existing plant of OAO Nikolaevtsement. The French group evaluated the investment in the construction of the plant at the level of 280-300 million euros.

Lafarge is the world leader in building materials, particularly cement, gravel, concrete and gypsum.

In addition to gypsum (plasterboard plant, gypsum plaster and dry mixes in Artemovsk Donetsk region.) And cement divisions, Lafarge owns two quarries in Ukraine for the production of crushed stone.
