AZERBAIJAN: Azerbaijan raises cement production

Cement production in Azerbaijan made up 895,500 tonnes in January-August.

Compared to January-August 2010, production has increased by 6%. As at 1 September 20-11, the reservoirs stored 18,000 tonnes of unsold production.

In 2010 cement production in Azerbaijan made up 1,278,000 tonnes, a drop by 0.6% over 2009.

Garadagh Cement is the main cement producer in Azerbaijan. Its producing capacities will allow producing 1-1.4m tonnes of cement a year (50% of the country’s demand). The rest demand is covered through import.

In 2007, cement production in Azerbaijan made up 1,778,000. Today, it is the highest cement production in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani government views the opportunities of building new plants on cement production in the country.
