INDIA: PRISM CEMENT SEES 89% DROP IN SEPT QTR PROFITS



India-based Prism Cement (BSE:500338) last week reported a dip of 88.9 per cent in its net profit to Rs 4.6 crore (US$1 million) for the quarter ended on September 30, 2010 compared to the similar period last fiscal year.

The company had reported a net profit of Rs 41.48 crore for the quarter ended on September 30, 2009, the company said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange.

In terms of total income, the company had reported a growth of 14.1 per cent during July-September quarter of the current fiscal year at Rs 756.99 crore, as against Rs 662.01 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

The company has also announced an interim dividend of Rs 1 per equity share of 10 each for the financial year 2010.
