Brazil: Prices in the Amazon second highest in the country

Brazil's Sinapi has revealed the price of cement in the Amazon region is the second highest in the country, a condition that is being compounded by logistics and production woes, a report from Critica said.

The price of cement sold in the Amazon is at R $ 30.59, per 50 kg bag. This is second only to the amount of cement sold in the state of Acre at $ 32.00.

Sinapi says two other factors are to blame for the higher prices, the logistical difficulty of the state in relation to other states, and some materials used in the works that has no local production and must be purchased in other states.

The average cost per square meter in the Amazon rose to R $ 816.33, with a monthly performance of 0.29% above inflation from 0.15% in June. The materials were solely responsible for the increase in prices, since there was no increase in the wages of labor in the state.

Other results presented show that the index registered the highest increase in the segment of construction was in the state of Mato Grosso, which had the highest monthly rate in the cost of construction, 5.26%. The value was caused by the salary increase of construction workers due to collective bargainin.
